Terms of use

These terms apply to your use of the Privacy Sightline Planner website, its calculators and guides (the “service”), operated by the operator of this website. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What the service provides

The service is a free planning aid. It calculates, from the measurements you enter, the geometric lines of sight between viewpoints and an area, and the height, width and position a straight barrier would need to interrupt them. The guides explain the underlying geometry.

2. Estimates, not professional advice

Results are geometric estimates based on your inputs and on simplifying assumptions (for example straight sightlines, solid opaque barriers and flat surfaces between the points you define). They do not account for foliage density, gaps in screens, wind, structural loads, ground conditions, or changes over time. The service does not provide engineering, architectural, surveying or legal advice. Please read the disclaimer.

3. Local rules

The service never states what height, placement or type of fence, screen or hedge is permitted. Building codes, planning and zoning rules, neighborhood or condominium rules and neighbor agreements differ by location. You are responsible for checking and complying with them before building or planting anything.

4. Your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of the measurements you enter, for verifying results on site, and for any decisions you make based on them. Use of the service is at your own risk.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to interfere with its operation (for example by attacking or overloading it), or to try to access systems or data without authorization. Please respect other people’s privacy; the service is intended to help protect privacy, not to plan surveillance.

6. Intellectual property

The website’s text, diagrams, software and design are protected by copyright. You may use the planner and print or save your own plans for personal or professional planning. Plans you create are yours. Reproducing substantial parts of the site’s content or software without permission is not allowed.

7. Availability and changes

The service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. It may be changed, suspended or discontinued at any time. Plans stored in your browser depend on your browser and device and may be lost if site data is cleared; export plans you want to keep.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of this website is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service or its results, including costs of materials, construction, removal or disputes. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence remain unaffected.

9. Links

The service may link to other websites. Their content and practices are the responsibility of their operators.

10. Changes to these terms

Updated terms will be published on this page with a new date. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
